HELP US IN OUR SEARCH FOR ONE-ROOM SCHOOLS IN HERKIMER COUNTY.
Have you ever wondered what it was like to attend a one-room school, to be in the same classroom as your older brother or younger sister, or to have your teacher live with your family for part of the school year? We will be taking a nostalgic walk down memory lane as we research all of the one-room schools that were located in Herkimer County.
Through this project, we hope to document the location of each school, research its history, find photographs when possible, and talk to people who may have attended a one-room school or had relatives who did that related stories to them of their experiences. We would like to have an eventual publication of our research and do an exhibit in our museum for 2020.
